Aerialist | Choreographer | Mermaid
Luna Minuit is a movement artist who uses the aerial arts to tell stories, challenging audiences to reflect on the complexity of human existence. She has over 20 years of experience dancing in the areas of classical and lyrical/contemporary ballet, jazz, tap, and hip hop. After years of performing and competing, Luna discovered the world of aerial arts in 2009 at the Florida State University Flying High Circus.
Professionally hailing from both the east coast and the Rocky Mountains, Luna’s career has roots spread throughout the crust of the United States and has recently been performing abroad. Luna’s performance career began as a Professional Company Dancer and Choreographer with Iluminar Aerial (Broomfield, CO) for five seasons. During her tenure at Iluminar, she coached all levels of aerial artists. While working as the Co-Director of the Flyers Youth Company and Adult Student Company at Iluminar, she regularly coached and choreographed for the professional and pre-professional aerial companies.
After 6 years at SOUL Aerial & Performing Arts in Richmond, where she shared her passion for storytelling through art as the Aerial Rehearsal Director and Technical Director, Luna is shifting her home base back to the Rocky Mountains and taking opportunities abroad. As a coach, she incorporates physiological knowledge and technical approaches to teaching both children and adults the skills of their dreams. She has also trained junior faculty in coaching and curriculum building. As a performer, Luna’s expertise ranges from emotional journeys on Corde Lisse and Fabric to dazzling audiences on Aerial Hoop, Chains, and anything that dangles. She is also a professional mermaid appearing as a member of the world-renowned Circus Siren Pod.
Her work dives deep into the substance of human existence and brings up fistfuls of contemplation for audiences to chew on. She works most regularly with themes of community, vulnerability, and self-image through the eyes of others versus oneself.
